Media consumption audit

Newspapers
  • Which daily newspapers (if any) do you read? get west london
  • What sections of newspapers do you turn to first, and why?The pages based on gossip.
  • What sections do you never read, and why? the sections based on politics because i`m not intrigued by it.
  • What kinds of stories do you usually read and why? stories based on vampires because it captivates me and has the best plot twists.
  • Do you, or someone else, buy the newspaper you read? i buy the newspapers i read.
  • Do you look at the online versions of any newspapers? Which newspapers? Why do you visit their website and not others? i look at daily mail online because it summarises all of the highlights so you can just scroll through.

Magazines
  • What magazines (if any) do you buy regularly?  Why?  Chat because its based on drama.
  • What sections of the magazines do you read and not read, and why? I read sections based on celebrities and I don't read the pages based on Emmerdale streets stars.

Television
  • Approximately how many hours a week do you spend watching television? 7 hours
  • What times of day do you usually watch television? afternoon
  • What programmes do you like best and why? cbbc because its childlike.
  • Do you watch alone or with others? If you watch with others, who decides what you will watch? My brother
  • Do you watch 'live' TV or on-demand/catch-up? Do you use any other devices to watch TV (such as laptop or tablet?) I use a laptop and watch on demand.

Radio
  • Do you listen to the radio? no
  • If yes, what stations do you like best and why?
  • Do you listen to podcasts? yes
  • If yes, what podcasts have you listened to recently? I've listened to the Mary sequel podcast based on her journey in the world war 1.
  • Approximately how many hours a week do you spend listening to podcasts or radio? 4 hours
  • What times of the day do you usually listen to podcasts or radio? in the morning
  • Where do you listen to podcast or radio? on my phone
  • What other activities (if any) do you do whilst listening? clean the house and sit on the bus.
  • Does anyone else in your house listen to the radio or podcasts? If so, when do they listen? my younger brother who listens to it in the mornings.

Film
  • What films have you seen in the cinema in the last month?  lion king
  • What films have you seen in other places – for example, through Netflix, Amazon Prime, satellite/cable film channels (free or otherwise) or streaming? stranger things
  • Who else watched the films with you? my friends
  • Who decided what films to watch? me 
  • What devices do you typically use to watch films: TV, laptop, tablet, phone etc.? Tv

Online
  • How often do you access the internet? regularly
  • Where do you access the internet?  At home, at college or school, or at work? At home
  • What are the main sites that you access? Netflix, snapchat and instagram.
  • What are the main reasons for accessing these sites – for example, for information, to make purchases, communicate with friends or for entertainment? communicate with friends.
  • What other activities (if any) do you do whilst accessing the internet? play games.
  • What different devices do you use to access the internet? What is your primary device for accessing the internet? my phone , my laptop and my tv.
  • What social networks do you use regularly (e.g. Twitter, Instagram)? Why do you belong to these networks in particular? i use snapchat a lot because it is an easy way to communicate with other people.

Reflection
  • How can you develop the amount and variety of media you consume? by reading more newspapers
  • What will you change in your media consumption habits this year as a result of studying A Level Media? I will read a lot more magazines this year
  • List three sources of media (websites/newspapers/apps/TV programmes etc.) that you will start to access this year that you haven't engaged with previously. I will read more newspapers, watch more news on bbc one and visit the daily mail more often.
